Second Chances

I am amazed at how many second chances I have gotten in life. Second, third, fourth, ninety-ninth. It's humbling and mercifully kind.

So I'm thinking that it would be a good idea if I could somehow internalize this merciful kindness and spread it around to my children.

Hmmmm. There's a thought.

Here's hoping I am able.

Hmmm. That is a hard one. Compassion is a hard one for me, especially after the dinner hour and until the sun rises again.

I suppose that's better than after the sun rises until after it sets again!

Children learn compassion the same way that you did - by experiencing it, which is kind of hard to manage when you're trying to instill discipline, and by giving it, which is easier when the kiddoes are small. Let them help you help others. You'll be amazed at the results.

Never Enough Words
